とんぼの湯 (Tonbo no Yu)

Address: 別府市スパランド豊海L-2
Open: 12:00 till 21:00
Price: 300 yen

Tonbo means dragonfly, hence the dragonfly in their logo.

Tonight we went to our favorite onsen in Beppu: Tonbo no Yu. This onsen in Kamegawa is a bit hard to find. It is in a residential area and there doesn't seem to be anything else besides houses.

Entrance to the changing room.

This was the second time we went and both times we had the bath to ourselves. For both men and women there is one big bath and two showers. Don't forget to bring your own soap and shampoo, because they are not provided by the onsen.

The changing room.

Lockers for your clothes and valuables.

The main reasons I like this place are the quietness, the friendliness of the owners and the way the place looks. The building is made of wood and the bath is made to look like a natural spring somewhere in the mountains.

The temperature of the bath was perfect.

There are two showers. It was quite steamy, which made taking pictures difficult.

Bowls and chairs to be used when washing your body.

If you go around the end of the year, you will get this nice calendar.
