We were in Fukuoka for a few days and decided to check out a few onsen there. The first one we went to was Hakatayu. The old name of this place is Suita no Yu, but in 1860 they changed their name to Hakatayu. I think the name is a bit deceiving, because it's quite far from Hakata in downtown Fukuoka. The onsen is walking distance from JR Futsukaichi station. The train ride from Hakata takes about 20 minutes.

Unfortunately I could not take pictures in the bath. The interior of the building was quite nice, so I took a few pictures of that. The bath was good too, but it was a hot summer day, so I could not stand the heat very long.
