ホテル万松楼 (Hotel Banshorō)

Address: 佐世保市谷郷町5番32号

Price: Adults: 1000 yen; children: 400 yen

After a break of a few months we continued our quest to complete the Kyūshū Onsendō. To finish one needs to visit 88 different onsen and visit at least one onsen in each of Kyūshū's seven prefectures. The only prefecture we hadn't visited yet was Nagasaki. Luckily my wife had a conference there — the perfect excuse to go onsening.

Sasebo is more famous for its US army base, burgers and nearby Huis ten Bosch, but they have onsen too. We bathed at Hotel Banshoro, which is famous for its sleek water that is good for your skin. At 1000 yen it's a bit pricy, but you get to bathe at two different baths: the indoor bath and the rotenburo on the roof of the building. There is a 200 yen discount if you print out the coupon from Banshoro's website. Unfortunately we didn't have the opportunity to take pictures, because the baths were quite crowded.
