After going to the birthday party of our niece (1 y/o) we went onsening with our nephew (5 y/o) and his mother. The place we parked was a bit far from the onsen, but it was worth the walk. Gion Onsen is a very nice onsen in an old neighbourhood of Beppu. The water was good, but quite hot. The locals were very friendly.
