On the second day of sightseeing for the tourist info office I went to Myōban. The first destination was the (to my knowledge) only onsen that has a mud bath in Beppu: Onsen Hoyōland.
We used coupons for 10% discount that you can get at the tourist info office in Beppu station.
Besides the mud baths they have a waterfall bath, steam bath and a sulphur bath. Note that the outside mud baths are mixed gender. It's a bit expensive, but a really good experience. Even if I had to pay for it myself, it would definitely be worth the money.
