Osaru means monkey and this onsen is located on the foot of Oita's famous "monkey mountain" Mt. Takasaki. Two groups of monkey live on the mountain, so you may see a monkey on the way to the onsen.

The bath is located in a very remote area, so it may be difficult to find. We were lucky to have my wife's mother guide us. It seems there are different kinds of baths. We used the rotenburo, which was very hot. It probably has a nice view of the mountain, although I am not sure because we went at night.

Sorry, I couldn't take pictures inside the bath.
