うたせ湯 (Utaseyu)

Utaseyu means "beating water". This onsen is famous for its taki-yu. Both the men's and the women's bath have more than ten taki-yu that beat down on your neck and shoulders.

This is the only picture I have. Too bad it's a bit blurry. Taking pictures inside was impossible because it was too steamy.

We visited Utaseyu three times during our stay in Sujiyu.

To enter this place, you need to buy a coin for 300 yen if you are a visitor.
However, there are 3 ways to bathe here for free.
1) If you stay overnight at one of the hotels in this town, you get a free coin to enter 3 public baths.
2) On 26th of every month, entrance to the public baths are free.
3) If you ask for coins at the nearby ski resort, they will give you free coins for this Utaseyu.
