Hotel Shiragiku is a very luxurious hotel at the edge of Beppu park, not far from Beppu station. Bathing here is a bit expensive: 1000 yen including a towel set. But because we went on the 26th of the month (ofuro no hi — day of the bath), it was much cheaper: 260 yen (towel set not included). The best part of Shiragiku is their gorgeous rotenburo.
